Are Polarized Sunglasses worth the money?

There is a lot of different reasons why you might need polarized sunglasses, so it’s hard to know whether or not it’s worth it to invest in a pair. The main thing polarized sunglasses do- that non-polarized sunglasses fail to do- is reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water, snow and metal. So, are they worth it? Well that all depends on your lifestyle and hobbies. If you tend to spend a lot of time on the boat or beach, or maybe a lot of your time commuting in city traffic, the simple answer is yes- polarized glasses will be beneficial. In these environments, you’ll immediately notice an improvement in the amount of glare coming through your lenses if you’re switching from a pair of non-polarized sunglasses.

The most obvious reason to wear any kind of sunglasses is for protection from harmful UV rays from the sun. Polarized sunglasses don’t offer any additional protection from UV light, so whether you wear polarized or non-polarized sunglasses, be sure to invest in a pair that offers full UV coverage. What you will get out of polarized sunglasses is a more fine-tuned field of vision while wearing sunglasses that can sharpen your image and help with depth perception. In general, darker lenses will do a better job at increasing contrast and depth perception compared to lighter tints of lenses. But try on a few different shades to see the difference and what best suits you!

Although polarized sunglasses are generally more expensive than non-polarized, there are many options that are stylish and affordable. You don’t have to break the bank to find a good pair of polarized sunglasses that will be worth the extra few bucks. After testing out a pair for even a few minutes you’ll notice the difference!
